ENGTON, THE BELGIAN BRAND MADE IN PORTUGAL
Our mission is to break themould and inspire everyone to be who they want to be.
What do we do? One-of-a-kind hoodies and t-shirts, created from surplus high-quality fabrics that we salvage before they are thrown away.

Who we are
Engton is the out-of-the-box brainchild of entrepreneur Laurent Janssens, who conceived the project in 2022.
While visiting his factory in Portugal, Laurent noticed that quite a few high-quality fabric rolls were abandoned at the end of the production process. The textile industry has a habit of ordering more material than is strictly necessary, just in case...
But what happens to these poor overlooked rolls? Spoiler alert: not much actually. That’s when Laurent decided to give them a second life. Not that they had seen much life up to then! His idea was to draw inspiration from the vibrant colours of the salvaged fabrics, to create a funky line of sustainable, gender-neutral clothing. The idea began to develop and, before long, Engton was born.
Escape the system
So what do we do? One-of-a-kind hoodies and t-shirts, created from surplus high-quality fabrics that we salvage before they are thrown away. Brand pieces, customised to make you stand out from the crowd...
Sorry but we don’t do stocks, just drops: our original collection is made up of a numbered series of unisex garments, sometimes limited to 50 pieces. Our production process will always be sustainable because we only work with the fabric rolls that we have to hand.

Made in Portugal
We manufacture in Europe and work with consummate professionals who really know what they’re doing.
Because we recover rolls that are already on site and already dyed, our carbon footprint is almost zero. From knitting to screen printing, the entire garment is made in Portugal by a team of experienced seamstresses.
Our factory is also ESG-compliant, which is just jargon for the strict environmental, social and governance criteria (you’ve got it, ESG) we have to observe. In other words, we don’t produce like there’s no tomorrow, as if climate change wasn’t an issue. Everything we design is intended to find its forever home in your wardrobe. Pieces that you can’t help falling in love with... for life.

We also strive to create appropriate working conditions and pay all our employees a fair wage. Engton is one big happy family where everyone has their place. And that’s not just empty talk, as Claudia, Cristina, Inès or Paula will tell you.

Engton GOTS Talent
All Engton garments are made of organic cotton that is GOTS-certified (Global Organic Textile Standard). What is GOTS?
No, it has nothing to do with Game of Thrones. It’s an eco-label that guarantees the presence of at least 95% certified organic fibres in textile products (i.e. fibres with no substances toxic to humans). This global standard also applies criteria for resistance to shrinkage during washing and drying, and colour stability. Basically, there's no risk of having to pass down your Engton hoodie to your little brother because of shrinkage (the hoodie, that is, not your little brother).
Unique collections
Along with the colour and design, the fabric weight is another unique feature that influences the garment’s finish quality. The higher the weight, the thicker the material. An Engton T-shirt, made of 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton, typically has a weight of 180 g/m2 (making it a relatively light and breathable fabric). Our hoodies contain 85% GOTS-certified cotton and 15% recycled polyester, adding up to a weight of 350 g/m2. In other words, it's a perfect sweatshirt that manages to look cool while being warm and comfy.
